Worried. Scared. Excited.

So.

For the last ten years, I've worked for a Very Large Software Company. Actually, I've worked for the Very Large Software Company. And it's been very good to me: I've had fantastic opportunities, met wonderful people, discovered my inner geek, learned more than I could have imagined. It even took me from Dublin to my beloved Washington State, more than seven years ago now.

And now I'm saying goodbye. In just over a week I'll be starting a new job, at a Very Large Online Retailer. I'm bouncing between exhilaration and fear. What am I giving up? What am I going to? The VLSWC has kept me warm and dry for a very long time. Can I survive on the outside?

hehe! i know where you're going!

best wishes for a smooth transition, and turn to running when you feel the stress of change coming on. relax and roll with the punches and you'll do fine!

oh, and don't let the bullies steal your milk money on the first day of school. =)

Riona,

My cousin's female friend made just the same change. I hope it works out for you. It did for here.

still considering the image change,

skip and i broke out of the orbit and we're still standing (and eating well and paying the mortgage.) hell, i work in wyoming now! hmm, that doesn't sound as encouraging as it should...

there is life outside of VLSWC. enjoy it!

Yes, to follow up on Stacy's note, I think we made an even bigger leap of faith than what you're doing (not to diminish its significance). If you're not totllay happy with where you are, make a move. And if you end up not liking where you moved... um, well... make another move. ;-)
