Naomi could probably help out here but the rest of us would be caught like a deer trapped by, well, a lion

Three lions showed up as unexpected guests while a marathon race was underway in South Africa's famed Kruger National Park, forcing runners to stop until the animals left the road, local media reported on Tuesday.

Elephants were also an issue:

The elephants left the village before the race started, but the athletes had to run around heaps of dung, the newspaper said.

Oh no! I thought it was tough enough getting around the walkers and cyclers! I think I'd certainly run faster with lions on the course though....

Lions are good sprinters but I wonder how they'd do on the long haul?

I guess a lion on the course would be helpful in setting a new PR! :) The occaisional deer on courses I've is looking like not so big a deal anymore. LOL

Hee! Or actually, ack, because that would be scary (and pretty annoying in the midst of a race).

But a marathon in Kruger? Who knew? Maybe that should be the site of my rematch!
